Chemical Peels Chemical peels are a great skincare treatment option in a medispa as a stepping stone into deeper skin treatments. We love our iS CLINICAL chemical peels as the results are unparalleled and the peeling is abundant. The results speak for themselves. A series of 3 peels is ideal to get the best results. So, what differentiates one chemical peel from another? Superficial peels or light peels use acids such as alpha-hydroxy to gently exfoliate the skin. This peel is only acting on the top layer of the skin. Medium peels use TCA, glycolic acid, or a mixture of salicylic acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol that will remove damaged skin cells. These peels reach the middle and outer layers of the skin. Microneedling AIYANA Microneedling AKA Collagen Induction Therapy is the perfect skin care treatment to help with texture, tone, and laxity of skin. It also can be focused on deep lines and wrinkles to soften their appearance. It is a great treatment when you are needing that extra collagen boost and notice those superficial fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots. After a series of 3 or 6 treatments, your skin will be glowing! We love our SkinPen device as it is the best microneedling device on the market. It’s a focused treatment with great results. We utilized iS CLINICAL Youth Serum and ALASTIN Regenerative Skin Nectar immediately post treatment. to help with penetration. It absorbs into those open microchannels to deliver the BEST skincare products at a time when needed most. Post microneedling, a Reparative Aftercare Hydrojelly mask is applied as well as Medical-grade LED lights. This helps with recovery and expedites results. Sculptra The next level of collagen therapy, Sculptra is an injectable that triggers our body to create its own collagen. After about 1 month, our body has removed all the Sculptra from our system. and collagen is starting to form. After about 2-4 months, we have 3-5 years worth of collagen formation and visible results are seen. Sculptra can help with texture, tone and laxity of skin. With multiple treatments, volume and fullness can be noted in areas of deficiency. It is recommended a series of 1-2 treatments in the first 3 months, possibly 1 more treatment at 6 months and then you will be put on the yearly Sculptra plan. It is a great maintenance treatment to help tighten the skin and keep it looking its best. Overtime, you will continue to build collagen, which in turn can decrease the need of fillers and Botox/Dysport so you are using less. Ready to book your next spa treatment? Click BOOK NOW below. 5 Ways to Anti-Age the Eyes

5 Ways to Anti-Age the Eyes There are certain areas on the face that cannot go undetected when it comes to aging. The area around the eyes is one of those. Puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles, or “bags” as they are lovingly called, can age an individual by more than 10 years. Plus, looking tired and exhausted all the time is not a look we are going for. That is why we have compiled the 5 way to reduce these pesky “bags” and to say goodbye to them forever. Hydration Your skin is made up of 70-75% water. It’s no wonder that keeping yourself hydrated will only make your skin look better. Water is a perfect way to do this. Drinking at least 8 glasses, or more, will help keep your skin in so many ways. There are so many benefits and one of them is that your skin plumps when it is hydrated. That means that your fines lines and wrinkles will be less visible, your lips will be plumper and your eyes will be less sunken. Its a win-win all around. You don’t have to only think of water when it comes to hydration. All of the food you consume has water in it as well and all count towards your daily goal. If you can’t stomach water, try sparkling water, infused or flavored. All will work when you are trying to achieve hydration. Seasonal Allergies? If you think you are suffering from seasonal allergies, taking an anti-histamine can help with your puffy eyes. This can be due to the reaction you are having to the allergens which causes this type of symptom. You may also experience red, itchy and watery eyes. Taking Benadryl, Claritin or Zyrtec can help with this. It is a good idea to avoid potential allergens when possible. You may also be having a reaction to certain skincare products, soaps and makeup. Ensure this is no the case by keeping a diary to keep track of any symptoms you may be having that are associated with products. Eliminate any that cause issues. Wear Sunscreen Protecting your skin from the sun and other elements can dramatically reduce the amount of fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots and aging. This may also increase or worsen the dark circles and puffiness under the eyes. Wearing a sunscreen that is 30 SPF or higher and broad spectrum, where it protects against the suns rays as well as the lights on our devices is highly advised. You can also stay out of the sun by wearing a hat when you are outdoors and exposed, sitting in the shade, wearing protective clothing and avoiding tanning beds. Skincare We’ve said it before, and we will say it again. There is nothing more you can do for your skin than a skincare routine that is twice a day, using medical-grade products. Why does that matter? When you are using over-the-counter skincare products you are wasting money. They will only take your skin as far as they can, and it ain’t that far. The moment you start using medical-grade, you will notice changes in the first 2 weeks. Give it 2 months and you will love the skin you’re in. When it comes to under the eyes, dark circles are a hard to treat area. That is where skincare is a must. Using an eye cream specifically designed to target that area will bring about healthy skin and help alleviate the dark circles, plus help with the skin texture at the same time. Injections and other procedures Botox, filler, microneedling and Natural Growth Factor Injections are great options for under the eye treatment. Botox and filler will provide desired results and having lasting effects. Botox does wear off in 3-4 months, filler can last up to 2 years. Microneedling takes about 3 -6 treatments per year to obtain the desired refreshed look. The results are worth it. By adding Botox to the under eye area in a fashion called microtox, it will soften the fine lines and decrease the puffiness for a more desirable outcome. Filler will add volume back where it was lost and help camouflage the fat pad that sometimes starts to migrate downward as we age. It was also fill in the lines created by the ligaments that start to pull down as well. Microneedling creates injury to the tissue which then forces the cells to turnover and rejuvenate, creating a healing process that improves the skin texture and the puffiness under the eye, increasing collage production. Both are worthwhile treatments that can help in that pesky area. See client above. Botox was applied to her under eyes to help improve puffiness and fine lines/wrinkles. Natural Growth Factor Injections will help with the under eye area by adding back in your very own growth factors to increase collage production. Just imagine, your own body healing those pesky under eye “bags.” It is another great option when you are looking to help anti-age those eyes. Ready to look refreshed and treat those under eyes? Therapeutic Treatments at AIYANA

Therapeutic Treatments at AIYANA Did you know that there are many therapeutic uses for Botox/Dysport neuromodulators? From migraines, to tension headaches, TMJ/TMD, and gummy smile, neuromodulators are not just for wrinkles. At AIYANA, we can help you with some of these ailments by utilizing neuromodulators correctly and with accuracy into the areas of concern.Let’s dive in. Migraines A main therapeutic use is for migraines. Botox/Dysport has been used by neurologists for years to help combat migraines when multiple treatment failures occur with traditional migraine medications. It is certainly something that is effective, and recommended for those who suffer for migraines. However, at AIYANA, due to the large number of units utilized for migraine treatment, it is best that you get it covered by your health insurance and therefore we do not offer it. Tension Headaches Botox/Dysport also helps with tension headaches, which is something we have been able to help our patients with. Usually those type of headaches occur in the front of the forehead, so adding Botox/Dysport to that area helps resolve those pesky headaches. It is extremely effective. TMJ/TMD Another therapeutic use is for TMJ/TMD. In the field of dentistry, TMD is an extremely difficult condition to treat. However, at AIYANA we can inject Botox/Dysport into the masseter which relaxes the muscle and does not allow the individual to clench their jaw as tight as normal. Coupled with headaches, and this is a great treatment for a client who suffers. Gummy Smile Another use that may be considered therapeutic or cosmetic is the gummy smile. When Botox/Dysport is injected into the Yonsei point, which is a small area of the lateral aspect of the nostril, on both sides, it can lower the lip and allow it to relax when the client smiles. This helps reduce the appearance of the gums and creates a lip that elevates just to the top of the teeth. This will prevent the client from have to get gum recession and also helps with the deepened nasolabial folds around the mouth. In the photos below, her gummy smile is reduced just by utilizing a little bit of Botox/Dysport. Her smile lines will also smooth out as she is no longer utilizing those pulling muscles around the mouth. There are so many uses for Botox/Dysport that the list seems endless. At AIYANA, we love this product and have seen so many clients benefit from its use. It truly makes such a difference when suffering from painful headaches to jaw clenching, but it also helps smooth the skin and provide a great anti-aging result. Recent Posts

How Do You Know if Someone is a Professional? When it comes to aesthetics and your face, it might be best to leave it to those who know best. And, by know best, we mean are trained professionals in the field. The world of aesthetics is a myriad of estheticians, assistants, nurses, and medical professionals, and everyone else in between. We’ve always believed that knowledge in the field and continuously learning/educating and training will produce the best outcomes in this practice. What are the Treatments that Should be Done by a Licensed Professional? When answering this question, we look at the treatments that have the most risk involved. That includes Botox/dermal fillers, laser treatments, microneedling and chemical peels. Advanced Aestheticians can perform certain laser treatments, microneedling and chemical peels. Nurses can perform Botox/dermal fillers if they have been properly trained, through a training course. Medical Providers, such as MD, NP, PA can perform more invasive laster treatments and Botox/dermal fillers, as well as any of the above mentioned or other treatments. All in all, it is important to make sure you feel comfortable with your treatment and your provider. Being at ease and trusting those who are doing such procedures is paramount in your overall satisfaction. Just Because They Are a Professional… Human error is just that. Any human, no mater how trained or schooled with make errors. It’s just part of the process. But, the ones who do will also know how to fix their mistakes. This makes doing your research even more important and finding someone who is trained makes all the difference. In those training, they are also trained on what to do when things go wrong. All in all, scheduling a consult and discussing all of the above is important. You need to feel confident in your aesthetic professional, knowing that they have your best interest in mind and they are trained to do what they do. We always say, shop around for the best aesthetic injector, not the best price. It makes all the difference. Recent Posts
Anti-Aging & Men

Anti-Aging & Men At AIYANA, we love to treat our men, too. Signs of age in men are common and usually consist of scowl lines, lines around the eyes, or crows feet, enlarged pores, jowls, and an increase in oily skin. But, what about skincare, tone and texture? A lot of individuals, not just men, neglect that part of their health and when the 40s come along, it’s hard to catch up. Here are the details, just for men, to help with their anti-aging regimen and improve their skins health. Change Your Cleanser Game When it comes to cleansing your skin, a bar of soap might suffice for some men. It’s convenient, available and what you might be accustomed to. But, its not the best for your skin. I love what Dr. Colbert says about this topic. You wouldnt wash your favorite cashmere sweater in Tide detergent, would you? he asks. Think of your skin as a fabricitll age like cashmere or a pair of jeans. It gets beaten up, threads get thin, and you get holes in the knees. Its a living fabric. Cleanser is the first step to creating an effective anti-aging regimen. Rinsing your face with warm water, then lathering up the cleanser in your hands and then rubbing it on your face to cleanse the area. Rinse with warm water. Use a hand towel to dry. Acne prone skin would be better off dried with paper towels due to the bacteria that is present on hand towels when only washed every 1-2 weeks. Our favorite cleanser is ALASTIN Gentle Cleanser ($45). Serums, Moisturizers & Anti-Aging Creams Our love for serums runs deep and that may have something to do with iS CLINICALs revolutionary serums. When a serum for everyone that is tailored for your skincare needs. Every client at AIYANA is on a serum and it is something we feel passionate about. Here are a few of our favorites. Hydra-Cool Serum— with its ability to act as a moisturizer, in serum form, this one is for all dry skin types. It has a cooling sensation when applied and it leaves out the greasy moisturizer feel. Super Serum Advance+— When it comes to skincare, having a growth factor in your regimen is paramount. This serum not only brings a growth factor, but also has Vitamin C to help brighten the skin. Lastly, it is infused with botanicals and antioxidants to protect the skin from outside elements. Win-Win-Win. Pro-Heal Serum— Blemish prone or have areas of dry/red patches on your skin? This serum is for you. Plus it helps with healing any skin concerns, such as sunburns and rosacea. A great serum to have in your back pocket. Active Serum-– This is iS CLINICALs most loved product and serum, ranked #2 serum in the world. This serum is one that can be used as a spot treatment or an all over facial serum, with anti-aging properties to help with fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes, and dry skin. Plus, it feels like a little facial in a bottle. Our favorite. Our must-have anti-aging cream is ALASTIN Restorative Skin Complex, with its Tri-Hex Technology that is formulated to go into the cells of the skin and clean out the old collagen and elastin. After that process is complete, it this targets the cells to product more collagen and elastin. If there is 1 anti-aging product that is a must-have for our clients this is IT. You will notice improvement in the texture and tone of your skin within 2 weeks. It’s that incredible. Consider Anti-Aging Treatments When it comes to fine lines and wrinkles, non-invasive treatment at the spa are going to give you the quickest results, almost immediate. Don’t be afraid of getting a little Botox to reverse that permanent scowl line that you’ve been noticing more and more lately. Botox is a great treatment that will take care of those pesky lines and after a few treatments, they will disappear forever. What seems to be most concerning for men is the fear of anyone knowing that they actually have gotten Botox treatments. No one will know, unless you want to tell them. At AIYANA, we firmly believe in enhancing your natural contours, not changing your face. Plus, Botox is for softening lines, NOT adding volume. There will not be any distortion of your face, and our goal is to keep the masculine features you already possess. Plus, keeping movement in your face is the most natural way to approach Botox in men and that is always our goal. Other treatments to consider are facials, chemical peels, microneedling and even filler. But, let’s take it one step at a time. Schedule your consult today and we can come up with a customized anti-aging regimen just for you. Recent Posts
Misconceptions… around aesthetics and more.

Misconceptions… around aesthetics and more. Since I have been in aesthetic medicine, I have noticed how many misconceptions there are out there in regards to this practice. Many people believe that when you get TOX and fillers, you look like an over-plumped “fish face,” as they say. The misconception is that is NOT the product, that is actually the injector or client preference. There are providers out there whose main interest is making money, and they really don’t are how they do it. There are many clients out there who find themselves loving the way they look after a good treatment, and then going back for more in a short amount of time. In turn, they are getting too much filler in one area, i.e. over-plumped or too much TOX- that causes clients to not be able to make adequate facial expression, i.e. frozen face. Body dysmorphia is real, and it is certainly alive and well in aesthetics. These clients keep going back to the office, and the provider keeps accepting them as a client and continues to provide their treatment. This isn’t to say its all the providers fault or all the clients, but as a provider we are given the ability to make a clinical judgment and we are actually licensed and advised to do so. I’ve found myself in a position where I have to have the hard discussion with the client. I then realized that evaluating the client, not just physically, but also their mental health is imperative. I ask myself– Is this individual doing other treatments. If so, are they going elsewhere? What else are they having done? How often are they getting a treatment? I also think to myself — this individual is my walking billboard. Do I want them to represent me and my work? If the answer is no, then the answer to the client is no. Using my license to make clinical decisions is imperative, even in aesthetics. AIYANA was founded on the principle that beauty comes from within, naturally. I am not here to change the way you look. I am here to enhance the natural contours of your face, to give you a little plump where the plumping used to be or to smooth out those pesky lines that are getting deeper than they originally were. I find myself circling back to my mission over and over again while in practice and I know my clients appreciate it. It is critical to have ground to stand on as a practitioner, a mission that you fully believe in that you can reiterate to your patients. As a nurse practitioner, I have the ability to step into this space as a medical director as well as a practicing nurse injector. What is so great is the autonomy it affords me to build a practice and provide compete care for my clients. The certification/training for nurse injecting is pretty ambiguous, and really there is nothing solidified in law that prohibits anyone from doing injections in a lot of states. However, when it comes to patient safety, which is my utmost priority, it is imperative that practitioners have adequate training. It has been know that estheticians have been injecting in the past, and some may still be today. Injecting WITHOUT any medical training is so dang scary. Insert Groupon deals, or Botox for a few dollars a unit. Be aware, it is out there! It is advisable, if you are looking to get injections, to do your research. Ask about training and education. Ask about experience. It is so important that you know who you are going to and that they are going to have the highest standards and safety rating. Aesthetics does not deserve the bad reputation it has been given in the past. No longer are clients looking for that overfilled, super tight look. They want a natural, soft, glowing look that still resembles themselves. AIYANA has got you covered. Recent Posts
What is TOX *Botox?

What is TOX *Botox? What exactly is Botox? First, let’s clear the air. “Botox” is the brand name of a neurotoxin/neuromodulator by Allergan. It’s similar to the kleenex conundrum. Everyone calls it Kleenex, even though it is really a facial tissue. With that being said, I’m going to refer to is as TOX. TOX is a neurotoxin/neuromodulator that paralyzes the muscle it is injected into. The dosage amount determines the effect. If you injected a small amount into a small muscle, the result will be less dramatic. If you inject a large amount into a small muscle, the result will be a “frozen” appearance. However, when it comes to larger muscles, it does take quite a bit of TOX to make an effect, i.e. Maseter muscle for TMJ. Areas that TOX can treat include 11 lines between your brows (glabella), forehead, crows feet, eyebrow lift, gummy smile and in your lip line to increase the surface area of your lips (lip flip). Therapeutic uses include TMJ, excessive sweating, migraines. Also, tension headaches can be improved when you use TOX in your forehead and glabella. Some fear that they will look strange if they have TOX. I always explain, less is more. We can always start at a low dose and work from there. However, sometimes the confusion comes from thinking TOX is the same as a filler. It is not. TOX is used to paralyze muscles helping with fines lines and wrinkles. Fillers are used for volume loss in the face, adding plumping which can also reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Like I mentioned before, there are many different types of TOX available. The ones I use include Botox by Allergan and Xeomin by Merz. My preference goes to Xeomin for a couple reasons. 1. It does not contain accessory proteins, meaning NO protein additives, it is purified. 2. The price point is lower, so clients can get more ‘bang for their buck.’ and lastly, 3. Due to the puridfied form, clients respond better to Xeomin and they can use it long term without the fear if it no longer working. TOX has been a great offering to my clients as they notice a difference in their appearance in 2-14 days. It is fast acting and lasts for 3-4 months. Most clients love the fact that their skin is smooth again. The wrinkles seem to lessen with each treatment until they have almost disappeared. They no longer have their makeup creasing in their wrinkles and they don’t look angry all the time with those 11s creeping in. Other clients have loved the decrease in their gummy smile and a little extra lip love with a flip. Also, having their masseter treated helps with TMJ symptoms that so many suffer from. Once you go TOX, you won’t go back. The results are undeniable and it is such a confidence booster. Trade that cup of coffee or that meal you eat out everyday to treat yourself! You won’t regret it.
