5 Things To Do in Your 40s To Age Gracefully | AIYANA Aesthetics

5 Things To Do in Your 40s To Age Gracefully When we think of aging gracefully, there are things that we can do now that will help immensely in the years to come. It is always easier to prevent, than it is to turn back the clock. But, don’t lose hope. At AIYANA, we have you covered. From skincare, facials andpreventative Botox to filler that is hydrating, anti-aging and will give an all-over refreshed, glowing appearance, you are in good hands with us. It is never to late for self-care. With that, what can you do? Let’s dive into the 5 things to do in your 40s to age gracefully going into your 50s and beyond. Wear Sunscreen You are probably sick of us taking about the good ol’ SPF, but honestly it is the most cost-effective anti-aging tool out there. Some may ask what sunscreen to buy and we are always quick to answer with one that gives you the protection from the sun and the screens. As we are exposed to more and more screens, que looking down at our phones, we are at an increased risk of certain lights causing damage to our skin. We love iS CLINICAL Eclipse SPF as it provides the adequate protection from all the lights around us. Medical Grade Skincare Why is medical grade skincare so important? When it comes to taking care of your skin, there is no better investment than into a skincare line that is medical grade, meaning pharmaceutical manufactured, with actual research and science backing it. When you buy skincare products it the store, they can say whatever they want on the bottle, even if the information is false. When it comes to medical grade products, there are standards in the industry, and they are result driven so you are going to get the best products that will actually improve your skin. As you know, we love ALASTIN and iS CLINICAL around here. To get started with skincare, we recommend starting with the ALASTIN Daily Beauty Regimen and a customized serum for you. We would love to have you at AIYANA for a complementary consult to talk more in depth about your skincare needs. Facial Treatments Facial treatments are more than just a luxury spa treatment. Although, we do love the fact that our facials at AIYANA are both luxury and results driven, we know that both are important. Why are facials a great way to help you age gracefully? With the productivity of facials including extractions, stimulating collagen production, increasing cellular turnover, infusing botanicals and growth factors to help improve texture, tone and laxity, facials are a great way to invest in your skin and provide it an ability to perform at its best. There are many types of facial treatments out there, ranging from a soothing, relaxing facial, to more invasive like microneedling. It is best to schedule a consult to discuss your needs. Injectables There are times when injectables, such as Botox/Dysport and dermal fillers are needed. This can be preventative as well as corrective, based on each individuals needs. Botox/Dysport are great at relaxing muscles to prevent deeper lines from developing. It can also help with tension headaches, TMJ and migraines. Fillers are great to add volume where it has been lost. As we age, our fat pads start to shift and due to gravity start to fall. By adding filler into that area, we are able to replace the volume that no longer exists, creating a more refreshed and youthful appearance. Healthy Lifestyle Aging gracefully can be something that starts on the inside. We always recommend our clients eat a healthy diet, exercise and drink water. Not only is this beneficial for your overall health, but it honestly helps your skin more than most of us think. Exercise is a great way to help your body function at its best, and when it does, your skin will show it. We’d love to see you at AIYANA for a commentary consult to get your skin glowing again!   Recent Posts

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning | AIYANA aesthetics | Molalla, OR

Dermaplaning When it comes to facials and exfoliation of the skin, dermaplaning is a great stand-alone treatment, or add-on. Dermaplaning is a cosmetic procedure that removes the top layer of your skin. It helps with the skin texture and tone, softening fine line and wrinkles and helps with scarring. It leaves your skin soft and smooth, and more readily available to absorb your medical-grade skincare efficiently. Let’s get into the details of dermaplaning. What is Dermaplaning? Dermaplaning is a facial treatment that uses a exfoliation blade to skim the skins surface and remove dead skin cells and vellus (peach fuzz) hair from your face. It is also known as microplaning or blading. Dermaplaning aims to smooth out your skin’s surface, making it it youthful and radiant. It can help with scarring and unevenness of your skin texture. Dermaplaning can be used for any skin type and anyone with: acne scars dull skin dry skin sun-damaged skin fine wrinkles The Process The tool used for dermaplaning is a type of razor, or a blade similar to a medical scalpel. It is very different than the razor you would use on your body for shaving. The concept of dermaplaning is similar to shaving. Using a sterile blade at a 45-degree angle and dragging it across the skin, slowly, the removal of dead skin cells, scar tissue and other debris on the skin surface will occur. The removal of the previous is what is causing dullness and unevenness of your skin’s surface. Exposure to harsh environmental toxins, irritants and sun damage to the skin daily causes damage. It causes the top layer of your skin to appear dull and can cause aging of the skin. Dermaplaning clears away the damaged skin cells so newer cells can regenerate. The Procedure During the treatment, you should not feel any pain. A slight tingle may be experienced while dermaplaning. The provider will have you lie down similar to a facial treatment. Your face will then be cleansed and prepped for the treatment. No numbing or local anesthesia is used for this treatment as there is no pain associated. The provider will then use a dermaplaning tool to scrape over your skin at a 45-degree angle. This will continue for 20-30 minutes on average as the provider gently works to exfoliate the skin and remove the dead skin cells and vellus hair. After the treatment is completed, the provider will apply serums and sunscreen to your face. As with any facial treatment, be careful in the sun after dermaplaning Ensure you have adequate sunscreen protection and re-apply every 2 hours. You can wash your face as normal and apply your non-comodogenic makeup products. Risks and Side Effects Dermaplaning is considered a low-risk procedure. There are minimal side effects, but they might include slight redness on your face post-treatment and some do experience what we call your body ridding itself of the congestion in the skin. With that may come some white heads in the area of most congestion. Infection and scarring are extremely rare after dermaplaning However, they can occur. If this does happen, contact your provider for treatment options. Another possible side effect is called hyperpigmentation, or patchy skin pigment. This can occur in the treated areas and may decrease or disappear over time. What to Expect After the dermaplaning treatment, there is no downtime. You may experience slight redness or feel the sensation that your skin has been scraped for a day or two post-treatment. This will resolve. You may notice that your skin looks bright, smoother and glowing immediately after the treatment;, but it often takes a few days to notice the full results. Redness will subside and results will be more evident a few days afterward. Results from dermaplaning are not permanent as the skin cells turn over ever 6-8 weeks The procedure is best when repeated during each skin cell cycle. After the dermaplaning treatment you’ll need to be careful about sun exposure as it can revers the effects of dermaplaning. It can also cause the pigment blotches on the new skin cells. Ensure you are wearing sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours. Are you ready to book your dermaplaning treatment at AIYANA? Click below. We can’t wait to see you. Recent Posts

Chemical Peels Chemical peels are a great skincare treatment option in a medispa as a stepping stone into deeper skin treatments. We love our iS CLINICAL chemical peels as the results are unparalleled and the peeling is abundant. The results speak for themselves. A series of 3 peels is ideal to get the best results. So, what differentiates one chemical peel from another? Superficial peels or light peels use acids such as alpha-hydroxy to gently exfoliate the skin. This peel is only acting on the top layer of the skin. Medium peels use TCA, glycolic acid, or a mixture of salicylic acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol that will remove damaged skin cells. These peels reach the middle and outer layers of the skin. Microneedling AIYANA Microneedling AKA Collagen Induction Therapy is the perfect skin care treatment to help with texture, tone, and laxity of skin. It also can be focused on deep lines and wrinkles to soften their appearance. After a series of 3 or 6 treatments, your skin will be glowing! We love our SkinPen device as it is the best microneedling device on the market. It’s a focused treatment with great results. We utilized iS CLINICAL Youth Serum and ALASTIN Regenerative Skin Nectar immediately post treatment. to help with penetration. It absorbs into those open microchannels to deliver the BEST skincare products at a time when needed most. Post microneedling, a Reparative Aftercare Hydrojelly mask is applied as well as Medical-grade LED lights. This helps with recovery and expedites results. Sculptra The next level of collagen therapy, Sculptra is an injectable that triggers our body to create its own collagen. After about 1 month, our body has removed all the Sculptra from our system. and collagen is starting to form. After about 2-4 months, we have 3-5 years worth of collagen formation and visible results are seen. Sculptra can help with texture, tone and laxity of skin. With multiple treatments, volume and fullness can be noted in areas of deficiency. It is recommended a series of 1-2 treatments in the first 3 months, possibly 1 more treatment at 6 months and then you will be put on the yearly Sculptra plan. It is a great maintenance treatment to help tighten the skin and keep it looking its best. Overtime, you will continue to build collagen, which in turn can decrease the need of fillers and Botox/Dysport so you are using less. Ready to book your next spa treatment? Click BOOK NOW below. Can’t wait to see you soon! Chemical Peel Facts How do chemical peels improve the skin? Dermal Filler FAQs

Dermal Filler FAQs | AIYANA aesthetics Molalla, OR

Dermal Filler FAQs Providing minimally invasive out patient procedures that can produce results similar to surgery makes dermal fillers a go-to. Rejuvenating, refreshing and volumizing, dermal fillers can take years off ones face and give them an added glow. At AIYANA, we love dermal fillers and have had such great success at helping our clients reach their anti-aging goals. When talking about dosing fillers, 1 syringe, 2 syringes, etc, it really is in mLs. And, 5 mls equals 1 tsp. See the diagram below. It is such a small amount of filler, but because of its chemical makeup, the hyaluronic fillers are hydrophilic, meaning they attract water. Some do a better job than others, and because of this they plump up more when inserted in the skin. Types of Dermal Fillers There are a number of them out on the market today, but we will go through the ones we use at AIYANA. Juvderm is a very popular filler. It is manufactured by Allergan, the same company that manufactures Botox. There are different types of Juvderm, such as Ultra, Ultra Plus, Voluma, Volbella and Vollure XC. These types of fillers are composed of Hyaluronic gel, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that contributes to volume hydration. It also stimulated the production of connective tissue or collagen that plumps the skin. Restylane is another type of hyaluronic acid filler, similar to Juvderm, manufactured by Gallderma. Restylane Kysse, Restylane-L, Restylane Lyft and Defyne are all used at AIYANA. Where to Use Filler? There are so many uses for filler and it seems like we are advancing in this treatment so rapidly that filler is being placed all over the face. At AIYANA, the areas around the mouth, the lips, jawline, chin, under eye (tear-trough) and the midface/cheeks and under eyes are the most requested areas. A lot of aging is present in the midface because it is the structure that holds a youthful appearance. When we lose volume in the midface, our lines get deep around our mouth, jowling starts to occur and our eyes look more sunken and dark. Creepiness occurs along the jawline and more fine lines/wrinkles are present in the midface area. By adding filler, this will inhance all of these areas and give an all over refreshed look. Lip Filler When our clients think about lip filler, they are concerned that they will have an outcome that looks overfilled and too plump. At AIYANA, we always try to reassure our clients that it takes a lot of filler, and multiple appointments to become overdone. We are always careful to enhance natural contours, not change appearance. This goes for all filler placement. A refreshed, youthful, glowing end result is always our goal. Before & After Here are some before and afters of our filler clients. What you will notice is that filler placed correctly can make subtle, yet, youthful changes to someones face. It’s refreshing and natural. Lip Filler 1 syringe of Juvderm Ultra Lower Face/Marionette & Lip Filler 1 syringe of Volbella around mouth, 1 syringe of Juvderm Ultra in lips AIYANA Rejuvenate 3 syringes of Voluma in cheeks, mid-face, 2 syringes in chin and pre-jowl jawline. {Client had 1 syringe of Juvderm Ultra in lips 3 weeks prior} Filler FAQs Most filler treatments take 30-45 minutes and require one office visit. Before getting the injections, you may need ice, an anesthetic applied to the skin, or a nerve block (an injection). This varies with the filler and area to be treated. Your provider will inject the filler into the area, often giving you several injections to produce the best results. You may feel a stinging or burning sensation as the filler is injected.(from AAD) Post-Care Instructions: Swelling, redness, firmness, itching and tenderness may be present for up to two weeks. Use of cool packs may be used as needed. Sleep with your head elevated to reduce the amount of swelling. Sleep on your back for the first 48 hours after the procedure. Do not massage or put pressure on the treated area, unless instructed by injector. Wait 4 hours to apply cosmetics, moisturizer or any lotions on the area. Avoid direct sunlight or extreme cold weather until initial swelling and/or redness has subsided. Do not do heavy aerobic exercise or do anything to raise your core body temperature or blood pressure for 24 hours. The results will be immediate, but its best effects are noted after swelling has resolved. Motrin or Advil, or Tylenol may be used as directed for any discomfort after injection. Cetirizine HCL 10 mg (Zyrtec) and Ranitidine 150 mg (Zantac) may be taken as directed to reduce swelling. Lumps, bumps or irregular, asymmetrical areas may be noted, especially once swelling has subsided. It is normal to feel these lumps and bumps; however, they should not be visible. Any severe swelling, itching, redness, increasing discomfort or discharge from treated area should be reported to your injector ASAP. Periodic treatments will help maintain the desired level of correction. It can take up to TWO weeks for swelling and any bruising to subside. If additional filler is desired in an area of previous treatment, we require you to wait until the 2 weeks has passed. When Will I See Results? This also varies with the filler. Most fillers fill the skin, so they produce immediate or close to immediate results. A filler also can stimulate your body to produce collagen, but this takes time. Recent Posts

Sculptra

Sculptra | AIYANA Aaesthetics

Sculptra When you think of anti-aging, the first thing that usually pops up is collagen. Collagen supplements, drinks and any other form is widely available for you to purchase. But, does that type of collagen actually produce the results that you are looking for? Collagen Supplements When you drink or take collagen as a pill form, it is in the chemical compound of a full collagen molecule. However, as that collagen molecule goes through the digestive tract and process of breaking down so your body can use it, its broken into tiny chemical compounds that no longer represent the original collagen molecule. Think of the alphabet, the letters ABC. When you take a collagen supplement, you are originally taking the full ABC. However, as your body breaks it down and digests, you are then getting As and Bs and Cs, all broken apart. Your body no longer recognizes those As, Bs and Cs and ABC, it recognizes them individually. Therefore, you are not getting collagen, you are only absorbing collagen parts, which does not produce the same results as collagen. Other Collagen Stimulating Modalities Microneedling is another great way to produce collagen in the skin. It is done on the skins surface, and working more on the epidermis and mildly on the dermis. This is a great way to improve texture and skin tone, and does help a bit with laxity. It also will help improve those fine lines and wrinkles. It is one of our favorite facial treatments at AIYANA as it has medical-grade results with minimal downtime. Medical-grade skin care products that create a reaction of the skins cells are another great way to produce collagen. When you are looking for the best collagen producing skincare, look no further than ALASTIN. With it’s triHEX technology and its ability to clear out old collagen and then produce new collagen AND elastin, ALASTIN is the best. iS CLINICAL also provides botanical copper tri-peptide growth factors for a more plant based way to produce collagen. Sculptra Sculptra has been on the market for many years and has made a huge name for itself. It is one of the ONLY injectable on the market that inducing natural collagen production. It was first brought to the market to help with AIDS patients and the structure of the face. Now, it is used mainstream for anyone looking to improve their overall collagen production. It is the best way to produce your own collagen and to get you aging in reverse. After our 20s, we start to lose collagen and no longer make it ourselves. Each year, we are losing more than we can make and it starts to show. With Sculptra, the collagen that is produced will last 3-5 years. However, depending on when you start Sculptra, you may need to do some catch up. But, after a few sessions over a year, you will be making more collagen than you lose and you will start to age backwards! Imagine that, an actual injectable that can achieve the impossible. Sculptra can. It is also the only injectable that you actually buy, because it is yours to keep once you have it. With tox and fillers, you are constantly having to get touch ups as it metabolizes and disappears over time. Ready to up your anti-aging game? Sculptra is it. Recent Posts

5 Ways to Anti-Age the Eyes

5 Ways to Anti-Age the Eyes - AIYANA aesthetics | Molalla, OR

5 Ways to Anti-Age the Eyes There are certain areas on the face that cannot go undetected when it comes to aging. The area around the eyes is one of those. Puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles, or “bags” as they are lovingly called, can age an individual by more than 10 years. Plus, looking tired and exhausted all the time is not a look we are going for. That is why we have compiled the 5 way to reduce these pesky “bags” and to say goodbye to them forever. Hydration Your skin is made up of 70-75% water. It’s no wonder that keeping yourself hydrated will only make your skin look better. Water is a perfect way to do this. Drinking at least 8 glasses, or more, will help keep your skin in so many ways. There are so many benefits and one of them is that your skin plumps when it is hydrated. That means that your fines lines and wrinkles will be less visible, your lips will be plumper and your eyes will be less sunken. Its a win-win all around. You don’t have to only think of water when it comes to hydration. All of the food you consume has water in it as well and all count towards your daily goal. If you can’t stomach water, try sparkling water, infused or flavored. All will work when you are trying to achieve hydration. Seasonal Allergies? If you think you are suffering from seasonal allergies, taking an anti-histamine can help with your puffy eyes. This can be due to the reaction you are having to the allergens which causes this type of symptom. You may also experience red, itchy and watery eyes. Taking Benadryl, Claritin or Zyrtec can help with this. It is a good idea to avoid potential allergens when possible. You may also be having a reaction to certain skincare products, soaps and makeup. Ensure this is no the case by keeping a diary to keep track of any symptoms you may be having that are associated with products. Eliminate any that cause issues. Wear Sunscreen Protecting your skin from the sun and other elements can dramatically reduce the amount of fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots and aging. This may also increase or worsen the dark circles and puffiness under the eyes. Wearing a sunscreen that is 30 SPF or higher and broad spectrum, where it protects against the suns rays as well as the lights on our devices is highly advised. You can also stay out of the sun by wearing a hat when you are outdoors and exposed, sitting in the shade, wearing protective clothing and avoiding tanning beds. Skincare We’ve said it before, and we will say it again. There is nothing more you can do for your skin than a skincare routine that is twice a day, using medical-grade products. Why does that matter? When you are using over-the-counter skincare products you are wasting money. They will only take your skin as far as they can, and it ain’t that far. The moment you start using medical-grade, you will notice changes in the first 2 weeks. Give it 2 months and you will love the skin you’re in. When it comes to under the eyes, dark circles are a hard to treat area. That is where skincare is a must. Using an eye cream specifically designed to target that area will bring about healthy skin and help alleviate the dark circles, plus help with the skin texture at the same time. Injections and other procedures Botox, filler, microneedling and Natural Growth Factor Injections are great options for under the eye treatment. Botox and filler will provide desired results and having lasting effects. Botox does wear off in 3-4 months, filler can last up to 2 years. Microneedling takes about 3 -6 treatments per year to obtain the desired refreshed look. The results are worth it. By adding Botox to the under eye area in a fashion called microtox, it will soften the fine lines and decrease the puffiness for a more desirable outcome. Filler will add volume back where it was lost and help camouflage the fat pad that sometimes starts to migrate downward as we age. It was also fill in the lines created by the ligaments that start to pull down as well. Microneedling creates injury to the tissue which then forces the cells to turnover and rejuvenate, creating a healing process that improves the skin texture and the puffiness under the eye, increasing collage production. Both are worthwhile treatments that can help in that pesky area. See client above. Botox was applied to her under eyes to help improve puffiness and fine lines/wrinkles. Natural Growth Factor Injections will help with the under eye area by adding back in your very own growth factors to increase collage production. Just imagine, your own body healing those pesky under eye “bags.” It is another great option when you are looking to help anti-age those eyes. Ready to look refreshed and treat those under eyes? Skin-Pen- AIYANA Aesthetics

All Things AIYANA At AIYANA, we are excited for the future. We are growing and expanding and adding in new services, procedures and skincare products/regiments to keep up with the demand of our clients, who are the best, by the way. We are here to serve you and we want to make sure we bring the best in the business. As a medispa, AIYANA aesthetics was founded on the belief that anti-aging treatments provide enhancement of our natural contours, not changing the face, but rather enhancing what is already there. We feel that bringing in non-invasive procedures is where we want to stay and we are always looking for the best on the market. Sculptra As we age, our bones in our face start to shrink. Our muscles start to thin and spread apart. Our fat pads, that used to almost be 1 fat pad that extended from our temple to our mid face, starts to spread apart. That is why we start noticing hallowing around the eyes, thinning of structure around our mouths, skin that starts to droop and sag around our lower face. All of this occurs, while our skin seems to get bigger. Its like a table with a large table cloth. We add filler to help fill that volume, but it can only take us so far without distorting the face and causing that moon-face shape. This is where Sculptra comes in. The collage treatment we’ve all been waiting for! Sculptra is an injectable sugar molecule that our bodies do not like. When it is injected, our body, over the next month, starts to attack it to get rid of in. During that process, our body produces collagen to help with this removal. As the collagen starts to build, we notice an improvement in our skin texture, tone and laxity. We may also have some volume improvement. This treatment is for everyone, as we are all losing collagen after our 20s. Collagen will last for 3-5 years, but with yearly Sculptra treatments, we can get you aging backwards and turn back the clock. The first Sculptra treatment is like planning the garden. Every treatment after that is where we water and nourish the garden. Kybella KYBELLAis administered as a series of injections to the treatment area under the chin, destroying fat cells and producing gradual results. Everyone’s chin profile is different, we will come up with a customized approach just for you. The number of treatment sessions will vary based on the amount of fat under the chin and your treatment goals. Microneedling As a huge fan of this treatment, microneedling is a procedure that uses small needles to prick the surface of the skin. This process generates collagen in the skin tissue to help with wrinkles, fine lines, large pores and scarring. The end results include smoother, firmer and more toned skin. Adding in PRP, a serum or growth factor to the procedure so that you end results is amplified. Microneedling is best when done in a package of 3-6 treatments every 4-6 weeks. The results with that treatment plan will be the best and you will love the results. iS CLINICAL Prodigy Chemical Peels TheProdigy Peel System P2combines resorcinol, lactic acid, salicylic acid, and citric acid to target multiple skin concerns ranging from mild to moderate aging, mild acne and pigment irregularities.
